Elasticity Test

E-mail Print PDF

ELASTICITY TEST
› Remove a strand of hair from the side of the head above the ears
› Hold it between your thumb and forefinger
› With the thumbnail and index nail of the other hand, run the surface of the hair rapidly (as if you
were curling a ribbon with scissors) to create a series of small curls
› Gently pull the hair straight for 10 seconds and release
› If the hair completely, or almost completely, returns to the curl pattern, it has good elasticity
› If it returns only 50% or less, it is structurally weak and may require protein treatments

We carry Redken CAT protein products!!!

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT AGING HAIR

E-mail Print PDF

Redken research has identified 2 main types of aging on the hair: chronological aging, which is caused primarily
by external factors, and hormonal aging, which is caused by the progressive loss of hormonal activity over time.
CHRONOLOGICAL AGING
This type of aging on the hair is related to length: the mid-lengths to ends (versus new growth closer to the scalp)
have endured additional years of mechanical, chemical and environmental distress. The combined effects of
these external factors can leave hair dry, sensitized and/or porous.
HORMONAL AGING
Hormonal aging occurs as a result of the physiological changes that women experience as they grow older. This
ultimately results in slowed scalp activity and the decline in melanin, the hair’s natural source of protection and
defense against age-accelerating aggressors.
Here are the 6 visible signs of age-weakened hair:
› Graying of the hair
› Change in texture
› Diminished density
› Increased dryness
› Surface dullness
› Fragility/breakage

How often should you cut your hair?

E-mail Print PDF

I get alot of questions about when to come back for a haircut. My suggestion is to know your hair. My best answer would be to come as often as 6 to 8 weeks for maintenance. Brushing the hair, fixing the hair and flipping your hair around creates the ends to get brittle and weak causing split ends. Split ends cause your hair to break off consistently in result...you think your hair isn't growing. It's always best to keep regular maitenance on your hair for best results.
